India, China strengthen battery storage ties with new manufacturing partnership, major supply deal

Servotech Renewable Power System, a renewable energy and EV charging solutions provider, has entered into an exclusive partnership with China-based Zhuhai Piwin New Energy Co. Ltd (Pilot Group). The collaboration will focus on local manufacturing of advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) in India, with technology support from Zhuhai Piwin. Together, the companies aim to deliver robust, scalable, and future-ready energy storage solutions tailored for India’s rapidly growing renewable energy ecosystem.

By bringing cutting-edge global technology to India and aligning it with our strong domestic expertise, we are set to deliver indigenous BESS solutions that reinforce the ‘Make in India’ vision and pave the way for a sustainable, secure, and self-reliant energy future.”

In other news, ACME Solar has placed an order for 2 GWh BESS with China-based lithium battery company Chuzhou Lishen New Energy Technology Co. Ltd. The order was placed through POSCO International Corp. and China FAW Group Import and Export Co., Ltd.  Posco International is a global integrated business company based in Korea, with green energy as one of the key focused business sectors.

The BESS will be delivered in phases over next six to ten months and would be deployed across ACME Solar’s firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) and standalone BESS projects, scheduled for commissioning over the next 12 to18 months. With this latest order, ACME Solar’s cumulative BESS procurement surpasses 5 GWh, following a previous order of 3.1 GWh BESS placed in July 2025.

Nikhil Dhingra, CEO of ACME Solar, said, “This strategic purchase will ensure timely availability of BESS system, playing a key role in de-risking project commissioning timelines and accelerating overall project delivery.”

Jason Lee, director of Posco International said, “This is the big step forward for us to Indian market which is the most promising BESS market in the world. With this opportunity we will diversify our partnership with the market leading enterprise, ACME, and enlarge our business activities in India.”

Lishen has 27 years of experience in lithium battery R&D and production. With an annual production capacity of 31 GWh lithium-ion batteries, Lishen leads in the global high-end lithium-ion battery market.

Lu TianJun, general manager of Lishen, said, “Based on this agreement, our company will further contribute to the expansion of energy efficiency initiatives in the Indian market and establish a stronger foundation for long-term growth.”

China FAW Group Import and Export Co., Ltd. is the trading arm of China FAW Group, the country’s first automobile manufacturer and one of its largest state-owned automotive companies. The company manages global import and export operations, covering vehicles, parts, and related technologies.
